Poroshenko confirmed his intention to reconsider signed within the CIS treaties

Moscow. May 20. INTERFAX.RU President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that Kyiv will conduct an audit of all international treaties, concluded within the Commonwealth of independent States, and out of not corresponding to the national interests of Ukraine.

“Now we look through all international agreements concluded within the CIS, and out of those that will be found even the smallest discrepancy between our Ukrainian national interests,” — said Poroshenko during the ceremony of memory of victims of political repression on the territory of National historical memorial reserve “bykivnya graves” near Kyiv.

Speaking about the day before he signed the decree about introduction in action of the decision of the Council of national security and defense of the final termination of Ukraine’s participation in the work of the statutory bodies of the CIS, he stressed that thus closed, the permanent mission of Ukraine in this organization.

2 may 2018, the national security Council and defence of Ukraine (NSDC) supported the proposal on termination of participation of Ukrainian representatives in the activities of bodies of the Commonwealth of independent States.

Poroshenko has said that Ukraine will cease participation in the coordinating bodies of the CIS.

Ukraine was one of the three signatory countries of the Agreement on creation of the CIS on 8 December 1991, together with Russia and Belarus. However, in January 1993 in Minsk at the CIS summit, where the Charter was adopted by the Commonwealth, Ukraine have not signed it. In the spring of 2014, the participation of Kiev in the activities of the CIS was kept to a minimum.
