Hearings in Kherson

The court of Kherson on may 17 addressed the issue of election of a measure of restraint journalist, who was arrested on Tuesday in the framework of security Service of Ukraine (SBU) RAID on the Agency “RIA Novosti Ukraine”. During the meeting, Vyshinsky was charged with treason, which resulted in “the provision of a foreign state in conducting activities against Ukraine.”

Justifying the prosecution, the prosecution indicated that the suspect “expressed the desirability of changing the borders of Ukraine, led the agitation regarding the establishment in Ukraine of the new state “Novorossiya” with its capital in Donetsk to unite with Russia…”. In the confirmation it listed a number of publications related to the events in 2014.

Vyshinsky himself described the situation as pressure on freedom of speech. “I believe that is the case is that filed against me SBU is a direct pressure on the freedom of speech in the country”, — he said at a meeting of Kherson city court.

The journalist also criticized the actions of law enforcement officers who have the case. “In the petition (on remand — ed. TASS), which we got hands on, a huge number of factual errors, distortions and nonsense,” said Vyshinsky.

In his opinion, the Prosecutor, presenting in court the charges “omitted one important detail”. “None of the articles (which are cited as evidence — approx. TASS) was not editorial. Under each was specified by the author, and they are placed under the heading “Point of view”, that is, they are the author’s, and not prepared by the editorial staff,” — said the journalist.

In addition, he refuted the statement of the Prosecutor that the Agency “RIA Novosti Ukraine” is not registered. “It was, there is a corresponding certificate and seal, specify head of representation Andrey Borodin. And I am the editor of the publication for four years,” said Vyshinsky.
