MOSCOW, may 6 — RIA Novosti. The Ministry of youth and sport of Ukraine will cease to Finance the travel of athletes to the competition in Russia. About this Facebook said the head of the Department Igor Zhdanov.
The official noted that the Ukrainian authorities can not “forced to deny” the athletes, coaches and fans to visit Russia. However, he added that the Ministry has “sovereign right” not to Fund travel to international competitions.
“I emphasize once again that the Ministry will not be spent hryvnias of taxpayers’ money on trips athletes in Russia. No payment state prize for winning at these competitions will not be effected. In this form there is the order of the Ministry and will act in the future, so there’s no doubt,” he wrote on his page on Zhdanov.
The Minister stressed that those athletes, coaches and fans who visited the Crimea, will be stopped by the state border service of Ukraine.
“No matter, it is the citizens of Austria, great Britain, Russia, Spain and other countries”, — said the head of the Department.
Earlier, the head of the IOC Thomas Bach said that the prohibition of Kiev on the participation of Ukrainian athletes in events in Russia, introduced in March, is no longer valid. According to Bach, this IOC had to interact with the authorities of Ukraine “at different levels up to the President”.
