In the United States announced a successful test of the “gravity” of a nuclear bomb

MOSCOW, may 3 — RIA Novosti. The U.S. air force has tested a gravity nuclear bomb B61−12, according to the portal Military.com.

“We’ve had 26 engineering, debugging and flight tests. The program is going very well,” said the Deputy chief of staff for strategic deterrence and integration, nuclear weapons, General Jack Weinstein.

Upgraded bombs are five times more precise predecessors — ammunition B61−3, B61−4, B61−7 and B61−10.

The American military did not specify what aircraft were used during the tests.

According to the publication, a new weapon must be compatible with the platforms of multifunctional fifth generation fighter F-35 Lightning II. It is expected that the first batch of bombs will enter service by 2020.

The US plans to place bombs on military bases in Europe — Germany, Italy, Turkey, Belgium and the Netherlands. According to estimates of the congressional Budget office for 30 years (2017-2046) modernization of the tactical nuclear forces would cost $ 25 billion.
