Prime Minister of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, resigned amid protests.

The main requirement of the protesters are residents of Armenia performed by: Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan resigned as a result of more than ten days of protests. The politician admitted that the opposition leader Nikol Pashinian, demanding care, “was right.” Mr. Sargsyan made a statement shortly after the mass actions in Yerevan joined the people in uniform. The country’s defense Ministry acknowledged that the soldiers of peacekeeping brigade “has violated the regime of stay in the unit”.

“I appeal to you for the last time as head of state. Nikol Pashinyan was right. I made a mistake. In this situation there are several solutions, but none of them I’m not going. It’s not mine. I leave the position of leader of our country”, — the press service quoted Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan, his words.

We will remind, the day before at the Marriott Armenia hotel in Yerevan hosted a meeting of Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan, Nikol Pashinyan, which lasted a few minutes. Mr. Pashinyan insisted that the meeting was attended by the journalists, and then said he was ready to discuss the resignation of Serzh Sargsyan. However, he denied the ultimatum and stated that such a conversation cannot be called negotiations. A few hours after the meeting, opposition leader detained, but this only increased the wave of protests: people not only filled the Central square of the Armenian capital, but also surrounded the police station, where presumably could be Nikol Pashinyan. For Sunday, the police detained more than 250 people.

This afternoon Mr. Pashinian was released, and among the protesters in Yerevan, there were people in uniform. In Twitter appeared the video, which shows how the military crowd ran out from the territory of the military unit. Judging by the pictures, on which one of the columns of protesters seen from above, it was headed by more than one hundred military. So, at 12 o’clock Moscow time one of the columns took place in the Tigran Mets Avenue, which departs from the Central Republic square in the direction of the Arshakunyats Avenue, which at that time was already locked by another column. Published in social networks videos heard that a lot of cars honking for the protesters blocked the road.

Armenian defense Ministry acknowledged that the military part is really joined to the stock, and explained that he views their actions as a “violation of the regime of stay in the unit and refusal to perform his duties by absence without leave,” and as “a gross violation of the principle of non-interference of the armed forces in political processes”.

Because of what is happening in Yerevan abolished the traditional torchlight procession in commemoration of Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire on April 24. In this day people go out and go to the memorial complex dedicated to the victims of genocide. However, for the first time since 2000, the procession will be replaced by lighting candles at the memorial complex “Tsitsernakaberd”.
