China is testing a weather modification system that allows artificially increase the amount of precipitation on the Tibetan plateau. It is the largest plateau in the world. Project of artificial cloud seeding needs to help solve the problem of water shortage in the region. This reports the South China Morning Post.

In the framework of the project on top of the Tibetan mountains have established a network of chambers of combustion. They will increase the amount of precipitation in the region of up to 10 billion cubic meters per year. This is approximately 7% of the total water consumption in China.

Installed cameras burn solid fuel, resulting in the formation of silver iodide, reagent crystal structure. Through the mountain ridges of Tibet are the monsoon winds: colliding with an obstacle in the form of mountains, air flow raise the products of combustion up and seeded the clouds reagent. This causes precipitation in the form of rain and snow.
