MOSCOW, 6 Feb — RIA Novosti. Drinking hot tea along with alcohol and Smoking increases the risk of developing cancer of the esophagus, the conclusion came a group of Chinese scientists, their work published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
Doctors for nine years studied the health status and dietary habits 456 thousand people aged 30 to 79 years. During this time they have revealed 1731 a case of cancer of the esophagus.
Scientists have found that this cancer is five times more common in patients who regularly drank hot tea and ate daily at least 15 grams of alcohol.
At the same time, cancer of the esophagus twice as often recorded among the lovers of hot drinks, which were smoked.
The authors of the study believe that the beverage temperature is higher than 65 degrees Celsius is applied to the internal organs thermal injury, which may increase the likelihood of cancers.
They urge people to be wary of excessively hot fluids, especially in the case of the simultaneous use of tobacco and alcohol.
Earlier, the world health organization published a report, according to which alcohol use increases the likelihood of seven types of cancer: bowel cancer (colon and rectum), breast cancer, esophagus, larynx, liver, oral cavity and throat.
