The us Navy received the robot — hunter for submarines

Make the ACTUV robot into service is planned until the end of 2018.

Agency defense advanced research (DARPA) of the U.S. Department of defense has completed its part of the project ACTUV to create a completely Autonomous surface robot designed to detect and prosecute enemy submarines. According to the Agency, it has completed all the planned test project and gave the robot the research Department of the U.S. Navy (ONR), which will hold a number of its own testing apparatus.

Terminate them and take the robot into service is planned until the end of 2018.

Development of ACTUV robot established in 2010 jointly by the Agency defense advanced development and research Department of the Navy. In the framework of the DARPA project was to monitor the development and construction of the robot and carry out testing as a technology demonstrator Autonomous hunter submarines. ONR in this project is responsible for testing the robot in accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Navy and rework it in such a way that the ACTUV can be included in the combat fleet.

The first model of a new robot, named “sea hunter”, began to undergo tests in 2016. The device is built on a “trimaran” with two made in the side floats. Such a scheme the designers chose to provide robots more stability. Length of the robot, capable of speeds up to 27 knots, is about 40 meters. The robot is equipped with various navigation equipment and sonar. The main task of the ACTUV will be the detection and prosecution of quiet diesel-electric submarines. In addition, the robot will be used to carry provisions, and the search for marine min.

In November 2016, the Russian company Zala AeroGroup, introduced the draft robot catamaran that can carry out several reconnaissance drones. The robot was named “Triton”. The apparatus is designed to conduct air, surface and underwater reconnaissance. The robot will also be equipped with a remotely controlled combat module with PKT machine-gun of 7.62 mm. “Triton” will get a few drones ZALA 421−08M aircraft type and quadcopters ZALA 421-21.

The size of the “Triton” Zala AeroGroup did not disclose. The robot will be driven by two diesel engines producing 200 horsepower each, and the range of its course is 750 miles. Catamaran provides for the installation of television, thermal imaging and sonar surveillance systems, and communications equipment. It is expected that Triton will be able to patrol the coastline and to transfer coordinates of detected targets to the operator of the coast guard. Robot catamaran will also be able to participate in search and rescue operations.
