Last year in Russia there were almost two times less cases of bribery than a year earlier. Less illegal actions began to make and working in Russia labor migrants. This is stated in the materials of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation on the state of crime in the country.

The Supervisory authority has published the statistics of crime in Russia in 2017. According to the Supervisory authority, the crime situation has become better not only overall, but in many important areas. Just last year there were 2 058 476 crimes, which is 101 587 (4.7%) and less than a year earlier. The reduction in crime is observed in all Federal districts and regions it is most significant in the Vologda region (20.3%), Moscow (19.4 per cent), Karelia (16,1%), Murmansk region (15.2%) and Adygea Republic (13,5%).

7.6% reduction in the number of serious crimes. 6.8% decrease in the number of murders and assassinations, 10.5% — facts of deliberate causing of heavy harm to health.

Noteworthy is the fact that in 2017, revealed 29 634 crimes of corruption, which is 10% lower than in 2016.

The number of crimes under article 290 of the criminal code (bribery), in the whole country decreased by 40.3% (from 5344 to 3188). 51% reduction in the number of crimes, under article 291 of the criminal code (bribery) — 4640 up to 2272.

6.9% (501 090 437 to 466) decrease in the number of registered crimes committed on the streets, squares, in parks and gardens. It is noteworthy that it is still a significant proportion of crimes are committed by persons already subjected to criminal prosecution. Every third crime in the past year was committed in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

It should be noted that foreign citizens and persons without citizenship on the territory of Russia in 2017 year, there were 41 047 crimes — 6.6% less than in the previous year. While 36 233 offences (5.9% less than in 2016) committed by citizens of States—participants of the CIS, which accounted for 88.3% of all crimes committed by non-citizens of Russia. The number of crimes committed against foreign citizens and individuals without citizenship, for the year decreased by 6.3% and amounted to 14 679.
