The Ministry of culture revoked the rental license of the film “Death of Stalin”
MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. The Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation decided to revoke the rental license from the British film “Death of Stalin”. TASS on Tuesday said acting Director of the Department of cinematography of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.
On the eve of a public viewing of the tape, which was attended by film makers, state Duma deputies, representatives of the Russian historical society, and members of the Public Council under the Ministry of culture.
As noted by the head of the Public Council Yuri Polyakov, “Stalin’s Death” should not be shown in Russia due to signs of “ideological struggle.”
According to him, “not one person spoke in support of this film as an artistic, historical works”. Cultural figures, looked a picture, asked the Ministry of culture temporarily to revoke the rental license.
“Rental license of the film “Death of Stalin” withdrawn”, — said the representative of the Ministry of culture.
The reason for the recall, explained Olga Lyubimova, became the subparagraph “d” of paragraph 20 of the rules regarding rental certificates, approved by the decree of the RF government. He says that the rental license may be revoked in the case of “identification with a public demonstration of the film materials containing the information the dissemination of which is prohibited by the legislation of the Russian Federation”. The distributor is obliged after receipt of the notice within 30 business days to return in the culture of the rental license.
