Roizman invited the Russians to sit in jail

Mayor of Yekaterinburg Yevgeny Roizman said that he considers useful for the intellectuals to be in prison. He told this in an interview with blogger Yuri Dude.

“Every intelligent person would not hurt anything to sit in jail. It’s an incredible experience, you see life from a completely different side, a huge reservoir of Russian life, which otherwise never see. After that, you realize that the most precious thing a man can have is his freedom,” he said.

Roizman also expressed the view that “there is no more terrible to do than to engage in the protection of their own kind. It is unnatural, it corrupts the person, it destroys”.

Roizman was convicted of theft, fraud and possession of knives in 1981, held in places of deprivation of liberty for two years, in 1984 the conviction was removed.

Roizman won the mayoral elections in Yekaterinburg in September 2013. He ran from the party of businessman Mikhail Prokhorov “Civic platform”. Also, Roizman is one of the founders of the public organization “City without drugs”.
