Lavrov: Washington intends to break up Syria into pieces

The US is going to divide Syria, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, despite the assurances of the secretaries of state, States that their only goal in the region is the fight against terrorists. These intentions are confirmed Washington’s plans to create a “border security zones” under the control “of the Syrian democratic forces,” Lavrov added.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said on Monday, January 15 that the US does not intend to preserve the territorial and political integrity of Syria, but rather seek to divide the country. These plans are contrary to the US claims that the operation “Unwavering commitment” in Syria and Iraq are directed exclusively to the fight against terrorists “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia).

According to Lavrov, the US Secretary of state Rex Tillerson and the previous head of state Department John Kerry “repeatedly assured him” that the US and American special forces on the ground only destroy terrorists.

“But now, even if we take into consideration that, as the Americans say, the IG are not completely destroyed, those actions that we see show that the United States still want to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria,” — said Lavrov.

A new U.S. initiative to create “some areas of border security” together with the Syrian democratic forces (SDS) is essentially the isolation of the vast territory stretching along the Turkish-Iraqi border to the East of the Euphrates river.

And the announcement that this area will be controlled by groups under the leadership of the United States is a very serious issue that raises concerns that a course on the section of Syria.

“These are the steps taken by the U.S. authorities without any grounds arising out of the resolutions of the UN Security Council, or the agreements on the establishment of security zones, previously reached during the Geneva negotiation process”, — said the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation during the annual Big press conference.

Sergei Lavrov also stressed that Russia, like Turkey with Iran, expect a “detailed clarification” from the US, reports FAN.
