Pentagon: the nature of the US operation against ISIS will change
WASHINGTON, December 29. /TASS/. The character of the American military campaign against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) will undergo changes next year.
This was announced on Friday at a meeting with accredited journalists the Pentagon U.S. Secretary of defense James Mattis, commenting on the progress of coalition operations led by the United States in Iraq and Syria against ISIS.
“As stated by the Minister of defence James Mattis, the destruction of the physical “Caliphate” of the Islamic state in Iraq and Syria will change the way the coalition is fighting with this terrorist group,” reads the material prepared by the press service of the Pentagon.
“2017 ends, the followers of the Caliphate are on the run, we destroy it”, — said the head of the military Department of the USA. He did not specify how exactly will change the nature of American military operations against ISIS. In Iraq, it was launched in June 2014, Syria — in September of the same year.
