The Commission on the prerogative of mercy gave a positive decision on Izmestieva

MOSCOW, 29 Dec — RIA Novosti. The head of the Moscow Helsinki group (MHG) Lyudmila Alexeyeva told RIA Novosti that the city Commission of pardons gave a positive opinion on the petition of the convicted for life ex-Senator Igor izmestiev, however, the human rights activist fears that it may not be included in the recommended list to the pardon for the current year.

Earlier, Alexeyev said that he had sent to the presidential administration a petition for pardon former Senator from Bashkiria Igor izmesteva, his lawyers also going to formally file a petition for consideration by the regional Commission on pardons. In late September, she reported that the request came through the FPS, and should arrive in Moscow the Commission on pardons.

As noted by Alekseev, on the eve of the presidential administration told her that it did not come izmestieva from Moscow to the Commission on pardons. She tried to figure out where it is — in this case, according to the head of the Moscow Helsinki group, helped the Commissioner for human rights Tatyana Moskalkova. The Ombudsman appealed to the office under the administration, which deals with clemency, said the human rights activist.

“And it was, thank God. But I’m concerned what was said by the Moscow Commission, that the case should be transferred to the presidential administration until December 25, and it was only today. I can say: “that time is gone and we don’t include in the list for this year” — fears Alekseeva.
