In attack on Church in Egypt according to sources, nine people were killed and five wounded

CAIRO, December 29. /TASS/. Nine people were killed and five wounded Friday in an attack on the Coptic Church of Mar-Mina in Helwan in Cairo. As specified in the Ministry of health of Egypt, among the victims — eight Christians.

According to the newspaper Sada Al-Balad, two militants drove up to the Church on a motorcycle and opened fire at the auto parts store, standing in the vicinity of the temple. Then they killed the owner of another shop, and then opened fire on worshipers and a policeman at the Church.

Retaliatory fire one of the attackers was destroyed. The second hid in a nearby store and were later caught by law enforcement officers.

As explained in the interior Ministry, “when one of the attackers tried to break through the outer cordon of the Church, the police opened fire on him, wounding him.” When it was discovered a Kalashnikov rifle and five stores with 150 rounds of ammunition and an explosive device.
