Sands: the calls to boycott the elections are subject to examination for compliance with the laws

MOSCOW, 26 Dec — RIA Novosti. Calls to boycott the presidential elections in Russia are subject to rigorous study on the compliance to the legislation, said press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

The Central election Commission on Monday rejected Alexei Navalny the registration of the initiative group in support of his nomination for presidential elections in March 2018 due to an unexpunged criminal record, the decision of the CEC adopted at the meeting on Monday.

“With regard to calls to boycott, then again it is rather the prerogative of the CEC, we do not comment in this case, the decision of the CEC, and the CEC is guided solely by the current electoral legislation of the Russian Federation. But the calls to boycott, of course, be very careful the study for compliance or conflict with our laws,” — said Peskov.

Regular elections of the President of Russia will take place on March 18, 2018, the election campaign officially started on 18 December.
