The Prosecutor General’s office began investigating the cases of the spy devices

Russian Prosecutor General’s office started an extensive investigation of all criminal cases according to article 138.1 of the criminal code (illegal acquisition of special technical means intended for secret receipt of information), told RT the representative of the Ministry Alexander Kurennoy.

The reason for testing was raised in the Urals, the case against Yevgenia Vasilyeva farmer who bought on Internet a GPS tracker for tracking the movements of his cows.

“At the initiative of the Ministry the test was started all over Russia. We study whether there are excesses in the regions with the application of the rule”, — explained in Prosecutor’s office. Mr. Kurennoy said that the test in production cases can take from several weeks to several months. Results will be announce in the next year.

Inspection of the Prosecutor General began after a press-conferences of President Vladimir Putin, where the President was asked about the criminal case against the farmer. Yevgeny Vasilyev faces four years in prison. The farmer does not consider himself guilty and refuses to admit guilt, explaining that GPS trackers are sold online and advertised on TV.
