According to the authors, Washington wants to use this waiver in order to “create in the UN Security Council prepared to adopt a new sanctions resolution against the DPRK, including its naval blockade”.
“Our position remains unchanged: we will continue to strengthen its own nuclear forces,” — concludes the newspaper.
Tillerson 12 Dec announced its readiness to dialogue with Pyongyang “without preconditions.” A few days later he said that the U.S. is ready to negotiate with the North Korean side, when it will cease “threatening behaviour”, adding that the DPRK “must prove their right to be at the negotiating table”.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula remains due to the active development of Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile programs, and military maneuvers of the US and its allies in the region.
