In Russia officially started the election campaign of 2018. The corresponding decree of the Council of the Federation published in “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
According to the decree, which comes into force from the date of publication, the election of the President of the Russian Federation are appointed to March 18, 2018.
CEC today will start the countdown to the day of the vote and approve the calendar plan of the campaign.

Acting President Vladimir Putin announced the entry into the presidential race on 6 December. During a press conference, he said that he will run as an independent candidate. According to the law, in this case, the candidate first need to create an initiative group from among 500 voters, who support him, and then collect and submit to the Central election Commission not less than 300 thousand signatures.
