In Germany concerned with combating anti-Semitism

Thomas de maizière

The Minister of internal Affairs of Germany Thomas de maizière proposed to create the post of Commissioner under the government of anti-Semitism. About it reports Deutsche Welle with reference to the interview of the newspaper Bild.

According to him, the necessity of establishing such office is connected with the increased number of disparaging remarks, inappropriate jokes and discrimination against fellow Jews. “Every crime is motivated by anti-Semitism — it’s too much and a disgrace to our country. Hostility to the Jews has not been distributed in Germany” — said de Mezieres.

He recalled that in April this year to create the position of Commissioner for the fight against anti-Semitism was advised by an independent expert Commission at the German Ministry of the interior.

December 11, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the conservative CDU/CSU, which she represents, condemns the anti-Semitic actions, such as occurred on the eve of the burning of the Israeli flag in Berlin.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, in turn, demanded to take resolute measures in response to the incident. “There is no justification for the burning of Israeli flags,” — he explained. Justice Minister Heiko Maas is confident that “any form of anti-Semitism is an attack on all of us.”

Protests in Berlin where demonstrators chanted anti-Semitic slogans and burned Israeli flags, began after the announcement of the President of the United States Donald trump on the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. He also instructed the state Department to begin work to transfer the U.S. Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Criticized the decision made by many world leaders.
