Putin gave Shchedrin on the 85th anniversary of the painting “the Assembler-vysotnik”

Moscow. 16 Dec. INTERFAX.RU — Russian President Vladimir Putin met with composer, people’s artist of the USSR Rodion Shchedrin to personally congratulate him on his 85th anniversary.

The Russian President recalled that, although few people know about this, Rodion Shchedrin wrote the wonderful music for so many famous and still popular in our country art films.

In this regard, the head of state presented the composer to the memory of the painting “the Assembler-vysotnik”, referring to the film “Height” by Nikolay Rybnikov and Inna Makarova in the lead roles.

In Shchedrin’s remark that he once did a lot of movies, and now rests, the President suggested: “Maybe we’ll come back to it.”

Putin signed a decree awarding Shchedrin the Medal of honor for his great contribution to the development of national music art and many years of creative activity.

Russian composer and pianist, people’s artist of the USSR Rodion Shchedrin was born on 16 December 1932 in Moscow. In 1950 he graduated from the Moscow choral school, in 1955, the Moscow Conservatory. P. I. Tchaikovsky. Rodion Shchedrin is the author of choral, chamber, piano, symphonic works and music for films. Principal roles in several ballets he wrote for his wife Maya Plisetskaya.
