Angarsk maniac will stand trial for 60 new murders

The investigative Committee for the Irkutsk region completed the investigation against Mikhail Popkov, better known as “Angarsk maniac”. This was reported on the website of the regional SK.

According to the investigation, Popkov from 1992 to 2010, made at least 84 killings. His victims were women ranging in age from 16 to 40 years and also a police officer.

In 2015, Popkov was sentenced to life in prison for 22 murders. Nevertheless, the offender, who previously worked in law enforcement, has managed to delay his move to the colony of special regime “Black Dolphin”, declared the new murders.

A criminal case, the volume of which amounted to 322 volume, with the approved indictment will soon be sent to court.

Forensic psychiatrists put Popkov diagnosis “homicidalmaniac” (passion for murder), which is not a symptom of mental illness.
