Elections, the Olympics and a little personal: tell Putin to journalists

MOSCOW, December 14 — RIA Novosti. At the large annual press conference of Vladimir Putin, which will take place on Thursday accredited a record number of Russian and foreign journalists. External and internal policy of the country, the upcoming presidential elections, the economy, pensions, the problems of the regions — the conversation promises to be traditionally long and Frank.

What will be the communication of the President with representatives of mass media — in the material RIA Novosti.

The thirteenth, a record

A press-the conference devoted to results of the year, and thirteenth. In this format Vladimir Putin meets with journalists since 2001 — with a break for four years when he headed the government. His first meeting with the sharks of the pen lasted only an hour and a half. But the longest was the press conference in February 2008 when he answered questions for 4 hours and 40 minutes.

In 2001, the event was accredited more than 500 journalists. Since 2007 their number have always exceeded a thousand. So, in 2015, 1390 hall was attended by media representatives, in 2016-m — 1350.

As with five previous press conferences that will be held in world trade Centre on Krasnopresnenskaya embankment. The live broadcast will be to TV channel “Russia 1” “Russia 24”, radio station “Mayak”, “Vesti FM” and “Radio of Russia”. And the TV station and website “Public Russian television” (OTR) is broadcasting in sign language.

By tradition, the conversation of the head of state with mass media attracted the attention of millions. In 2014, the press conference was watched by more than 7.9 million viewers, in 2015 — more than 7.7 million last year — about 6.8 million Russians.

Questions…

Most of the annual press conference of the President of Russia in the last few years is the end of the year and, as a rule, devoted mainly to the results and the most striking events of the period. In 2015, Putin answered 47 questions from reporters, but last year on 67.

Last year journalists were interested in future elections, forecasts for the development of the economic situation in the country, tax policy, defense spending, privatization of state-owned companies, “business speaker” and the problem of corruption in the country. But not only that. On the agenda was the doping scandals, the regulation of turnover of alcoholic and alcohol — containing products in connection with the mass poisoning means “Hawthorn” in the Irkutsk region, which caused huge public outcry. Not paid attention to international Affairs: reporters asked about Syria and Ukraine, on the situation after the killing in Turkey of Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov and “eternal” Russian — American relations.

There is no doubt that many of last year’s issues in one form or another, will be heard at this time. Victory over terrorists in Syria, which a few days ago, Putin announced, from year to year deteriorating relations with Ukraine imposed by Washington anti-Russian sanctions, difficult situation in Europe and aggravated the situation around North Korea — all this is certainly of concern to journalists. Will not forget about the IOC ban on the participation of the Russian team in the winter Olympics.
