According to the newspaper, local officials are unable to answer journalists to the question about the whereabouts of the remains of the artist. In local government reporters sent to the Ministry of culture, however, there any questions from the press were unable to answer.
According to the will of Hvorostovsky, his ashes were divided into two parts. First buried at Novodevichy cemetery in Moscow, the second was taken to the home of the artist, Krasnoyarsk Krai.
In June 2015, Hvorostovsky was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He has taken several courses of chemotherapy in a cancer center in London, after which he returned to the stage. At the end of 2016, his health deteriorated. The singer died 22 November 2017.
