Tusk: the EU summit will consider the implementation of the Minsk agreements, which will allow to extend sanctions

BRUSSELS, 12 Dec. /TASS/. EU leaders will consider the implementation of the Minsk agreements at the summit of 14-15 December, which will subsequently allow to extend sanctions against Russia. This is stated in the letter from the head of the European Council Donald Tusk, heads of state and government of the EU set out the agenda of the summit.

“At dinner the Chancellor [of Germany Angela] Merkel and President [of France Emmanuel] macron will also inform leaders about the implementation of the Minsk agreements with a view to the extension of sanctions against Russia”, — he wrote.

Earlier, the European diplomatic source told reporters that the summit will not go into the discussion about sanctions and to take practical decisions. “Leaders will make practical decisions on sanctions. They will be extended by the Council [of the EU] later, we expect that by the end of the month,” he said. As usual it is expected to extend sanctions for six months.

In addition to the Minsk agreements at lunch the leaders will discuss migration problems in the EU and consequences of the U.S. decision on moving the Embassy to Jerusalem.
