Shoigu noted that the timing of the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Syria “will depend on the situation” in the region.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin first arrived in Syria on December 11. At Syrian airbase Hamim, where the Russian aviation group, he met with Shoigu and the President of Syria Bashar al-Assad. Addressing the servicemen, Putin ordered withdrawal of Russian troops from Syrian territory.
