Russia temporarily suspends operations at Embassy in Yemen

Moscow. 12 Dec. INTERFAX.RU — Moscow has decided to suspend work of the Russian Embassy in Sana’a (Yemen), the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“Given the situation in Sanaa, the decision on the temporary suspension of the Russian diplomatic presence in Yemen. All employees of the Russian Embassy left the country. The Ambassador of Russia and of the Russian diplomatic corps accredited to Yemen, will serve while in Riyadh”, — she told journalists on Tuesday.

The crisis in Yemen has escalated in the last few months. Last week began violent clashes between supporters of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Houthi rebels previously fought with the forces of President Abd-rabbu Mansour Hadi and the Saudi-led coalition. It happened after the forces of Saleh against the Houthis.

Saleh was killed during clashes with the Houthis.

The armed conflict in Yemen continues with March 2014. The Arab coalition supporting the troops, the Yemeni President Mansour Hadi in their confrontation with the rebels.
