Haley: North Korea demonstrates the paranoia in response to sanctions

NEW YORK, December 10. /TASS/. The DPRK leadership is showing signs of paranoia in response to increasing pressure from the United States and its allies. This view was expressed on Sunday on air of TV channel Fox News, U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley.

“First of all it is necessary to see that the sanctions are doing. They reduce the volume of trade of Korea (DPRK), 90%, delivery, oil products — by 30%. The DPRK invests every bit of its revenue in its nuclear missile program. Sanctions make them (North Korea) to tighten their belts, they have become less money for the implementation of its nuclear programme,” explained Haley.

“The situation is very serious, North Korea recently launched a more powerful missile, they apparently made no progress (in missile and nuclear program),” — said the U.S. permanent representative to the UN. According to the stated its version, “the international community is in solidarity with us (USA) in seeking to isolate North Korea.”

“This is an important translational shift, North Korea is aware of this, demonstrating in response to the paranoia and stress. We will continue to increase pressure (on Pyongyang), because we are forced to do so”, — concluded the diplomat.

Tensions on the Korean Peninsula remains due to the active development of the DPRK’s missile and nuclear programs, and military maneuvers of the US and its allies in the region. Last week the assistant to the President for national security Herbert McMaster said that the DPRK is currently the greatest threat to the security of the United States and the risk of war with Pyongyang is growing every day.
