Almost 40% of Russians have never read the Constitution, the survey showed

MOSCOW, 10 Dec — RIA Novosti. Almost 40% of Russians never read the Constitution of Russia, according to a study of “Levada-Center”.

According to the survey, 37% of respondents never read the Constitution. A quarter of respondents (25%) read, but don’t remember anything. In this case I remember quite well a little more than 10% of the population of our country. Almost as many believe in respecting the Constitution of the Russian authorities (13%). That the Constitution is observed only partly, sure 40%. “Have no respect” said 14% of Russians.

It should be noted that on the forthcoming Day of the Constitution celebrated in our country on December 12, aware, 66% of inhabitants of Russia.

However, this figure reduced over the last years (70% in 2016 76% in 2015), written in the release. In 2017 the proportion of those who knows about the holiday, the lowest since 2010.

Poll spent “Levada-Center” 24-28 November, among 1,600 people aged 18 years and older in 137 localities of the 48 regions of the Russian Federation by personal interview. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
