In Kiev, detained Mikheil Saakashvili

In Kiev, the police and the security Service of Ukraine detained the former President of Georgia and former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili. His closest ally David Sakvarelidze said in Facebook that Mr. Saakashvili were taken for interrogation in the detention center of the SBU.

According to the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko, earlier, Saakashvili has received from Ukrainian oligarch Sergey Kurchenko money for organizing mass riots in Ukraine. One of his associates had been charged with treason.

According to the interlocutor of Kommersant, close to the Ukrainian security forces, Mikheil Saakashvili will be questioned and most likely arrested and convicted. After that he will be extradited to Georgia, or deported to Poland, where he arrived on the territory of Ukraine.

The adviser to the interior Minister of Ukraine, MP of the parliamentary faction “people’s front” of Parliament Anton Gerashchenko wrote on Twitter that the measure of restraint for Mikhail Saakashvili will be determined within 72 hours.

Now in a detention center, where Mr. Saakashvili arrived his lawyers.

Earlier, Saakashvili announced a rally in Kiev for the impeachment of the President of Ukraine.

December 5, Mr. Saakashvili, were initially detained by employees of SBU and Prosecutor’s office on suspicion of “assisting members of the criminal organizations and concealment of their criminal activity”, but then, with the help of their supporters fled from custody. The evening of the same day, the Prosecutor General announced the policy in the search, but was unable to detain him.
