The Kremlin believes the incumbent President of Russia Vladimir Putin the most powerful candidate for the highest office, said press Secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov. His words to the correspondent “Tapes.ru” on Thursday, December 7.
“Yes, and the chance, of course, Putin — the level of support of the people, which he has, is not available to other candidates,” — said Peskov.
A Kremlin spokesman also responded to the request of journalists to comment on statements of some analysts that Putin, the elections will be referendum in nature. He called these reflections “standard and nabivshy nauseam at knowing and reading people.”
Earlier Thursday, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev urged the government to work as closely and harmoniously in the crucial period before the presidential election, which intend to participate the acting head of state.
About his desire to go to a new presidential term Vladimir Putin said Wednesday, December 6, during a meeting with the employees of GAZ in Nizhny Novgorod.
He first was elected President of Russia in March 2000, and in 2004 was re-elected to this post. From 2008 to 2012 he held the position of Prime Minister, and in 2012 again became head of state.
