The author of the world’s first SMS told me what it was

MOSCOW, 3 Dec — RIA Novosti. The author of the first SMS messages to be sent 25 years ago, told Sky News television about its contents.

Briton Neil Papworth, in 1992, worked as a developer at Vodafone, said that the first SMS in the world, he sent his boss on 3 December. “Merry Christmas,” he wrote.

Papworth said that he received no answer — then a mobile phone could only receive messages, and he was typing on the computer.

According to him, it is not certain that the company then expected that the new project will be at the time.

The Briton noted that the gradual decline in the popularity of SMS-messages is inevitable, however, suggested that this opportunity will be used for a long time.
