A Spanish court has issued a warrant for the arrest of the former head of Catalonia

National trial chamber of Spain decided to detain ousted President of Generalitat Catalonia Carles Pokdemon and four former members of the government of the region, reports the newspaper La Vanguardia.

The document is valid in the entire European Union. Thus the court has satisfied the petition of the Public Prosecutor’s office of the Kingdom. According to the newspaper El Pais, citing lawyer Mr. Pokdemon, the former head of Catalonia does not intend to appear in court due to the fact that this “is not conducive to the situation”.

Carles Putteman was subpoenaed as a witness in the case of the rebellion in Catalonia — so Madrid evaluates the independence of the region on October 31.

Nine former members of the government autonomy appeared before the court, eight of them were arrested.

One of the members of the Cabinet of Mr. Pokdemon Santi Vila remained at large in exchange for a Deposit of €50 thousand due to cooperation with the investigation.
