Bailiffs allowed to detain alimony

Bailiffs have received the right to detain the child support debtors and working-age Russians, who refuse to support their disabled parents.

The relevant amendments to the administrative code was signed by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The document is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

Previously, the debtor could not be summoned by the bailiffs, so the bailiffs had to go to the police. This complicates the procedure of bringing to administrative responsibility.

The state Duma adopted the bill on 20 October, its authors are deputies from the party “United Russia” Pavel Krasheninnikov and Zarif Baiguskarov.

In 2016, the administrative code a new article — 5.35.1 (“non-payment of maintenance for children or disabled parents”). Over time her actions brought 10 thousand administrative cases and paid off the arrears of alimony on 34 million roubles.
