“Levada-center”: less than half of Russians support the DNI and LC

41% of Russians believe that Russia should support the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk national Republic in the conflict in the Donbass, reports RBC with reference to the survey “Levada-center. 6% of respondents believe that Russia should support in the conflict Ukraine and the Kiev government, 37% believe that Moscow no one should support.

In the words of the sociologist “Levada-center” Stepan Goncharov, the topic of the legal status of DND and LNR silenced in the Russian media, they do not offer the audience a clear view. “But still, 41% support the DNI and LC quite a lot, although the idea to join the Donbass Russians will get cold,” — said the expert.

The decline of interest of Russians to the Ukrainian conflict occurs from June 2015, in the period from may to September, the share of watching the recent events in Ukraine, decreased from 35 to 31%.

The share of Russians who fear that the armed clashes in Eastern Ukraine could escalate into a war between Moscow and Kiev remains stable. In September 2017 feared by 42% of respondents, in July of 2016 — 40%. Of the greatest concern to citizens this development has caused in the midst of the fighting in the Donbass in June 2014 (68%).

This increased the fear of the Russians before the fact that the conflict in Ukraine could escalate into a war between Russia and Western countries or in world war II: if in July of 2016 this scenario feared 29%, September 2017 — 40%.

The survey “Levada-center” was held 15-19 September among 1,600 people in 137 localities of the 48 regions of the country.
