The Kurds repulsed the attack of the Iraqi army from Mosul

The Kurdish militia, the Peshmerga repulsed the attack of the Iraqi army from the North-West of Mosul. This is stated in a special statement posted on the website of the government of Iraqi Kurdistan.

The lawsuit alleges that the attackers used heavy equipment of American manufacturing, which the US gave Baghdad to fight against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia).

“For 12 hours [fighters] Peshmerga heroically repelled today’s attack, killing three tanks, five armored SUVs American production and one armored personnel carrier”, — said in a statement.

In addition, the document calls for Baghdad to immediately cease hostilities and sit down at the negotiating table.

16 October it was reported that units of the Iraqi army took control of the disputed city of Kirkuk. Earlier in the day the military took over the airport, a military airfield and a few oil fields around the city.

September 25, Iraqi Kurds voted in the referendum for an independent state. The holding of this plebiscite has caused negative reaction in Baghdad. On 27 September, the Iraqi Parliament appealed to the Prime Minister Haider Abadi, a request to send army units in Kurdish-controlled province.

Mosul city in Northern Iraq, the former Iraqi “capital” of ISIS. Was liberated from the terrorists of the “Islamic state” on 9 July after months of fighting. The operation was attended by units of the regular Iraqi army, the Kurdish militia and formation of volunteers. The international coalition led by the US provided air and artillery support.
