Famous French chansonnier Charles Aznavour at the residence of the Israeli President in Jerusalem presented the medal to Raoul Wallenberg for the actions of the family of the artist during the Holocaust, RIA Novosti reported.

During the Second world war, Charles Aznavour and his sister Aida hid a few people who were persecuted by the Nazis.
“The Jewish people will never forget and will forever remain grateful to you and your family” — said present at the award ceremony the President of Israel Reuven Evelyn.

Awarded the Charles medal bears the name of the Swedish diplomat who saved thousands of Jews in Nazi-controlled Hungary. Award 93-year-old singer was awarded based in new York, the international Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, but to obtain her preferred artist in Jerusalem.

In late August, Charles Aznavour has a star on the Alley of fame in Hollywood.
