The foreign Ministry equated the actions of the West in the UN security Council to the concealment of terrorists

All Russia’s attempts over the past few years to achieve the reaction of the UN security Council for the crimes of terrorists using chemical weapons every time rigidly blocked the Western “Troika” that borders with blatant concealment of terrorists. This is stated in the statement of the MFA of Russia.

The Agency, in particular, criticized the U.S. position, saying that Moscow “welcomes the use by the Assad regime of chemical weapons against innocent women and children”, “once again took the side of dictators and terrorists using chemical weapons.”

In addition, the Agency indicated that the use of sarin in Syrian Khan Sheyhun April 4, and subsequent developments have revealed serious systemic problems in the work of the OPCW mission to establish facts (MOFS) and CMP.

In Moscow, it is called a gross distortion of the position of the opponent, and emphasized that, by imposing its veto on the draft U.S. resolution to extend the mandate of the Joint mechanism of investigation (SMR) of the Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons, Russia was not against the extension of the mandate of the CMP and against the adoption on this account hasty decisions.

“We are talking about consistent and calling big questions the lines of those now trying to put labels on us”, — stressed the Minister.

“Confirm the intention in a short time after receiving the report to submit to the security Council specific considerations that should be taken in order not in words but in practice to ensure genuine independence, objectivity and professionalism in the investigation of crimes involving toxic substances”, — concluded the Ministry.

On 24 October, Russia blocked the adoption of an inconsistent security Council resolution extending for one year the authority of the Joint UN and the Organisation for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OPCW) relating to the investigation of chemical attacks in Syria (CMP).

In a gas attack in Khan Sheyhun controlled by the Syrian opposition, killing 87 people, injured about 200. Opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the West have blamed the attack force of government troops. In Damascus said that the army did not use chemical weapons.
