United States returned to the Russian consular archives from San Francisco

The American authorities have transferred to the Russian Embassy in Washington archive closed their Consulate General in San Francisco. This is stated in the statement of the Embassy on the page in Facebook.

The Embassy underlined that the American authorities did not allow Russian diplomats in the Consulate building, so they could pack and take out the files themselves, thus “grossly violating the relevant provisions of the Vienna Convention on consular relations and the bilateral consular Convention.”

“Instead, they themselves Packed up and brought it [archive] WA (…) on October 23, the archive was transferred to the Embassy,” — said in a statement.

The diplomatic mission noted that the consular archives and documents “shall be inviolable at any time and irrespective of their location.”

“The dismissive attitude of official Washington to international law, our diplomatic and consular facilities and property opened the possibility of similar treatment of the representations of the USA in Russia”, — warned the Russian Embassy.

On 2 September, the us intelligence officers held the number belonging to the Russian Embassy buildings in the event that Moscow has described as searches. The state Department said that this “bypass” and “on”.

Two days earlier, the US authorities have demanded from Russia to close until 2 September, the General Consulate in San Francisco to stop using the buildings of the trade mission in Washington and new York. These actions, as explained in the White house, were a response to the reduction of the U.S. deprecative in Russia.
