In Switzerland, the teenager with an ax attacked passers-by

In Switzerland, in the Canton of St. Gallen 17-year-old armed with an ax, attacked the passers-by, several people were injured. The motives of the assailant are not yet known, but police are refusing to admit it was a terrorist act, informs local edition of “20 Minuten” with reference to the statement of law enforcement.

The attack occurred on Sunday evening, October 22, in the village of Flums. A young man with a hatchet attacked people near a post office. After that, he stolen a car, and drove to the gas station, which also attacked several people. As reports the edition with reference to eyewitnesses, on the way to the gas station, the assailant got into an accident. The police used arms against him, after which he was able to stop and detain. During the arrest the attacker was injured.

The exact number of victims and the severity of their injuries is still unknown. The police said that the assailant was a local resident. Law enforcement said that they have no evidence that the incident was a terrorist act.

Currently, the police collect data on the assailant.
