Abbas Araqchi

Tehran has guaranteed to develop and not to buy nuclear weapons. This commitment in 2015, is of unlimited duration, said Deputy Iranian foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, reports on Saturday, October 21, TASS reported.

“Our deal is non-proliferation and provides however fully respects the right of Iran to use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. The ban on the possession of nuclear weapons by Iran in this document is of unlimited duration. Iran reaffirms that under no circumstances is and ever will not (…) seek to acquire nuclear weapons,” he said, speaking at the Moscow nonproliferation conference.

According to him, this is a permanent, indefinite commitment of Iran. At the same Araqchi, in his speech accused the US of breaching the deal on a Joint comprehensive plan (SVPD) of action on the Iranian nuclear program. “Everyone is talking about fulfilling the deal. The United States is not fulfilling its obligations, and it is a fact that is unacceptable,” the diplomat said. He added that without the AGREEMENT the American side will break.

Thus, according to TASS, the Kremlin does not consider it necessary to amend the AGREEMENT. “According to our estimates, nearly two years the Joint plan has shown that the arrangement works effectively and is fully copes with its task. (…) Reasons and opportunities for realignment or making changes, we do not see”, — said Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov.

The agreement on the settlement of the longstanding problem of the Iranian atom has been achieved by the Islamic Republic and the sextet of international mediators on 14 July 2015. Adopted a joint comprehensive plan of action (SVPD), which removes Iran’s previously imposed economic and financial sanctions by the UN security Council, US and EU. The plan came into effect on 16 January 2016.
