The number of victims of the terrorist attack in Mogadishu per day increased by 10 times

The death toll in the blast in the Somali capital Mogadishu for a day has increased almost ten times. Currently, over 230 dead and about 300 wounded, said on Sunday, October 15, “bi-Bi-si” with reference to local authorities.

According to local police, number of victims can increase still — many of the injured are in serious condition. Local residents continue to find their loved ones among the ruins in the area where the explosion occurred. As marks “bi-Bi-si”, the Safari hotel, near which there occurred one of the explosions, collapsed and many people were buried under the rubble.

The President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed announced three-day mourning.

October 14, near the building of hotels in the area Khodan in Mogadishu blew up a truck loaded with explosives. Two hours later another explosion occurred near Madina. Reuters initially reported 22 dead and dozens wounded.

This attack was one of the largest in Somalia in recent years. Responsibility for it has not yet took none of the terrorist groups. According to “bi-Bi-si”, the organizers of the attack on Mogadishu could become the militants of the group “Al-Shabab”.

“Al-Shabab” — a radical Islamist group operating in Somalia and beyond. In 2014, the militants had released most of the previously occupied territories.
