In Japan invented the recipe for “coffee” of garlic

MOSCOW, 15 Nov — RIA Novosti. In Japan invented a drink that tastes and looks similar to coffee but made from garlic, the newspaper writes Japan Today.

The drink idea came to 74-year-old Esitomo Simatai, a resident of Aomori Prefecture in the North of the country, 30 years ago, when he was a shop owner. One day he had to cook steak with garlic and at the same time serve the visitors and Simatai not follow a dish and overcook it. He crushed burnt garlic with a teaspoon, added hot water and found that the resulting drink tastes like slightly bitter coffee.

After retirement, the Japanese remembered the garlic drink and decided to repeat the experience. After many experiments, he managed to achieve the desired result, fried garlic in an electric furnace and crushing it after cooling.

“I guess my drink — the first of its kind in the world. It has no caffeine, so it is suitable for pregnant women and those who love to drink coffee at night,” explained Simatai. “Garlic coffee” is sold in two stores in Aomori Prefecture, said Japan Today.
