Russia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia consider the further deepening of cooperation between Georgia and NATO is a threat to the security of the Caucasus. The announcement was published on the website of the Russian Ministry of foreign Affairs Wednesday, October 11.

The Agency said this after the regular consultations on security and stability in Transcaucasia, held in Geneva on 10 and 11 October.

“In the exercise of the North Atlantic Alliance, held in the summer and autumn of this year in Georgia, there were a record number of troops and heavy equipment. Present at these emissaries of the individual NATO States have emphasized anti-Russian maneuvers and their importance to Georgia in terms of a future “de-occupation” of South Ossetia. These actions of Tbilisi and members of the Alliance are contrary to the objectives of the Geneva discussions, devalues the work of the format and lead to increased tension in the region”, — stressed the foreign Ministry.

Adopted by the NATO parliamentary Assembly in Bucharest resolution the Department considered unacceptable and provocative.
