More than 70% of the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro want to move to another city due to rampant crime

RIO DE JANEIRO, 7 Oct. /TASS/. At least 72% of the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro would like to move to another town, as dissatisfied with the high level of crime. This is evidenced by the common on Saturday the survey data of the sociological center Datafolha.

According to the study, only 27% of respondents are not willing to change their place of residence, despite the difficult situation in the sphere of public security. 1% of respondents could not give a definite answer to the question.

Moreover, 67% of residents of Rio de Janeiro said that in recent weeks, heard the sound of gunfire in their neighborhood.

Direct witnesses of the shootings were 30% of respondents. 24% of respondents from the actions of criminals suffered, someone from relatives or friends.

The study authors also asked his interlocutors the question of whether those who are more afraid of criminals or law enforcement. Almost half — 49% — said that they fear for their lives is associated with the actions of bandits, while 23% said they are afraid of the police.
