MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. The head of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev regrets, but believes not unexpected the fact that the West used the birthday of Russian President Vladimir Putin as an excuse to once again post in the “authoritative” media materials aimed to discredit Russia. He stated to the correspondent of TASS, commenting on the publication in several Western publications.

In particular, the publication Bloomberg and the Independent came out on Saturday with a similar content articles where marking the 65th anniversary of the current head of state is opposed to the oppressed, in their opinion, the “dissident” Alexei Navalny. In this context, the Western media talk about the upcoming presidential campaign and a possible new term for Putin.

Consistent with the containment of Russia

“There is a consistent, charged work the best analytical minds in order to in the political space and ideological space to form the image of Russia as the enemy, the problems, threats, unpredictable neighbor. And, thus, to implement the deterrence policy to Russia. All comes down to this – trying to contain Russia, push it as far as possible and hold it in the position of defending the country”, – said Kosachev.
