MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS/. Large anti-submarine ship “Severomorsk”, large landing ship “Kondopoga” and support vessels arrived in the main base of the Northern fleet after a voyage to the Arctic ocean. On Wednesday reported the press service of the fleet.
Solemn meeting of the crews and personnel of the Arctic brigade was held in the compounds of surface ships. With the arrival of the Northern fleet and congratulated the chief of staff of the Northern fleet Vice-Admiral Alexander Moiseev. He noted that the sixth campaign in the Arctic “has become the largest number of participants and amount of completed tasks.”
Sixth campaign in the Arctic
A detachment under the flag of the commander of the Kola flotilla of diverse forces, Vice-Admiral Oleg Golubev has passed for more than 6,000 nautical miles to the Novosibirsk Islands in the Laptev sea through the Barents and Kara seas, and along the Yenisei river to Dudinka. In this district the soldiers of the Arctic motorized rifle brigade, together with units of the airborne troops and special forces conducted cross-species tactical exercises on the protection and defense of important industrial facility in the Arctic.
The Northern fleet has carried out four sea landing operation on unequipped coast. In landing on the Bank of the Yenisei in the area of Dudinka took place on three large landing ships “George”, “Alexander Otrakovsky” and “Kondopoga”. For the first time was held the landing of heavy equipment at Cape Chelyuskin – the northernmost point of the Eurasian continent.
