Authorities will discuss the possibility of a tax on online purchases

Today will be a meeting on the possibility of introducing in Russia the value added tax (VAT) on the purchase of goods in foreign online stores.

In discussion will participate representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS), the economic development Ministry, Finance Ministry, Federal tax service (FNS), the Federal customs service (FCS), told Prime.

Recall that we are talking about the development of a set of measures which will equalize conditions of activity between Russian and foreign online sellers. In particular, the possibility of introducing 18-percent value added tax (VAT) on purchases made in foreign online stores.

Meanwhile

“Rossiyskaya Gazeta” reported earlier that the threshold for duties on goods in international mail (IGOS) in Russia may be reduced from 1 July 2018 up to 20 euros. This was discussed in the package of documents to the draft Federal budget for the next three years. It is assumed that the result of this decision the Federal budget will receive in the coming year of 30 billion rubles, and in the 2019-2020 year — 60 billion rubles annually.
