Member of the Committee on physical culture, sport, tourism and youth Affairs Dmitry Svishchev (LDPR) is convinced that the former head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory, Grigory Rodchenkov should come to Russia and testify in his case if he considers himself innocent. Otherwise, according to the policy, all statements Rodchenkova about the alleged existence in Russia of a system of doping is not true.

Basmanny court of Moscow on Wednesday in absentia arrested the former head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory of Gregory Rodchenkov, accused of abuse of power. The investigation announced in the international search.

“If Rodchenkov does not feel any guilt, he needs to contact the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Prosecutor General, to agree with them that he is ready to come to Russia and testify, let it be on neutral territory. Let them testify and convince our authorities that he is innocent, and let yourself live freely in any country of the world. If he does not, then it will confirm that all his statements about the allegedly existing in Russia system of doping are not true,” said Svishchev.

The Deputy also drew attention to the fact that in the last article Rodchenkova in the American newspaper the New York Times, he expressed the opposite attitude to the world anti-doping Agency (WADA) compared to the one he expressed in 2016.

“Before this fellow [Rodchenkov] said that WADA is independent, not under the control of the organization, but now says that WADA came under the influence and pressure of the Russian government. That kind of nonsense? Moreover, he now tells stories about what it supposedly “ordered” to kill… But what else can he do to attract the attention of the media and their new owners?” — the politician noted.

In his view, “for a certain amount, he [Rodchenkov] will say and tell anything, so take his statements seriously makes no sense”. “The same article in the New York Times is a not very good attempt to write fiction”, — said the Deputy.

“WADA and sport courts, seeing conclusive evidence, to justify the Russian athletes: as you remember, from our first 95 athletes doping charges were dropped. System common sense worked, and now there is no evidence that our athletes have taken illegal drugs,” stressed the MP.
