The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow would respond to Washington’s attempts to prevent terrorism in Syria. He said this during a meeting with his Syrian counterpart Walid Muallem on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on Friday, September 22, reports RIA Novosti.

According to him, Russia is in regular contact with the state Department and the Pentagon. In these talks, the Russian side has made clear to Americans that “if territories that are close to the American “friends”, or how they can even call it that, attempts will be made to complicate the completion of the counterterrorist operation, it will not remain without response”, — stressed the Minister.

Earlier Friday, Lavrov said that the administration of former U.S. President Barack Obama laid a mine under the relations of Moscow and Washington. “The previous administration did the petty, vindictive, putting this bomb under the Russian-American relations. I didn’t expect this from a Nobel peace prize. But he, in General, proved to be, and it still affects””, — he said.

Lavrov also lamented the current situation, in which Moscow is responsible for making the solution to all conflicts. “You in a heap and Korea, and Iran, and Syria, and Ukraine, and all this is a problem of Russian-American relations. I don’t really like the fact that some politicians in all appoint responsible Russia. That Russia and China should the North Korean problem, Russia needs Syria to do so-and-so. We designate responsible for other crises, even down to the Yemen, to which we have no relationship at all,” said the Minister.

22 September foreign Minister of Syria Walid Muallem has accused Washington of helping a terrorist group “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra” (banned in Russia). This is done, in his opinion, because of dissatisfaction with the United States progress in the negotiations in Astana on the Syrian settlement.
